Dear Al-Tsaqafah

ALTSAQAFAH.ID – I had frequently moved from schools to schools almost every 2-3 years since I was still a child. When I moved to a school, I seldom experienced shared feelings to other students from many different places and many different social structures. However, In Al-Tsaqafah, I can feel strong bonds between the teachers and students.

There does not seem so many santris / students compared to other schools/pesantrens, but they have very diverse characteristics and very unique personalities to interact with. Some of them are calm, nice, and kind-hearted. Some of them are just tricky and ignorant. Others are easy to tease. Overall, they blend and interact with each other no matter which social classes they are on.

Actually, I am an ignorant one and only do things that catch my interests, nothing more. However, this is an Islamic boarding school that has a strict system where Moslem students are obliged to focus and understand all the compulsory lessons and non-compulsory lessons, from math to fiqh. All lessons are given to the degree which the students have good grasps of understanding.

This boarding school not only focuses on those lessons, but also has some extracurricular activities. For example, the most popular extracurricular activities is “Pagar Nusa”, a traditional Indonesian martial art. I once tried to join in this, but my poor health was the obstacle that hinder the opportunity, ghahahaha.  Other activities are the “KIR (karya ilmiah remaja)” that focuses on doing scientific school experiments and Sorogan, the compulsory extracurricular activity for every student on grade 7 that focuses on mastering of reading the yellow book.

There are other advantages that I have experienced in this Islamic boarding school. One of them is the chance that even many people want to experience it, but very little that could accomplish it, to directly study to amazing and famous teachers that master many subjects such as our grandmaster K.H. Idris Sholeh, Lc., K.H. Sofwan Yahya, Lc.M.Hum., and Hj. Nisrin Said Aqil, S.Fil. Moreover, don’t forget a person that hundreds, thousand people want to meet and learn, and I am one of them that make dreams come true, learning to our syaikhuna Prof.Dr. KH. Said Aqil Siroj.

The experiences in this boarding school are unrivaled, and the management is faultless (even though the santris sometimes complain). The meals are… fine, I guess, although I had tasted it worse, hahahaha. In addition, the infrastructure is the best, and the facilities are on the top grade (well, sometimes we had broken them by ourselves).

Based on my experiences of moving from one school to another, this place is by far the best I have ever stayed because of the feeling of comfort and the good education that promises the bright future. There is nothing better than that, but if there is I would actually want to try, hahaha.

Well, that is all from me and that is what I think about this wonderful boarding school. I am M. Nahdil AA that only have experienced 2 years in this great place… says good bye and have a nice day.
